Make up help!

Ok here's the thing.  I've been wearing foundation only a few years, and have always went for Rimmel Recover make up, being that it doesn't make me break out.  But here's the thing - it's not actually all that great with my skin.  The coverage is rather rubbish and none of the shades properly match my skin tone.

I have combination skin - very oily but annoyingly dry t-zone.  I also have a pretty uneven skin tone, although overall I'm rather pale I'd say.  I also get spots fairly regularly, this again depends on outside factors like what pill I'm on or whether I've managed to avoid the cheese shelf in the fridge.  So.... what the hell foundation should I be using?!  Any help from anyone, useful or not, would be much appreciated!

  1. I also have difficult skin. Oily and dry and I need a nice concealer that works well. I adore clinique's products. I use their liquid foundation every once in a while (which is amazing), but for my regular routine, I've found the best thing that works for my odd skin is their spot concealer (which is an acne fighter as well) and their pressed powder. I use it every day, and it's wonderful. Hope that helps a bit!

  2. If you're a fan of full-coverage, I'd try Make Up Forever's Mat Velvet + foundation. i have oily skin and it solves that problem without drying my skin out. Plus, it covers red spots and zits SO well that sometimes I don't even need concealer! It's a bit pricey, but in my opinion, it's completely worth it:)

  3. I use Maybelline's Dream Satin Liquid daily as I have an uneven skintone and find that it works a treat, although it doesn't seem to last all day. However, the best foundation that I've used is Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua which is pricey, but well worth it for the long lasting coverage that it gives and a little goes a long way.

  4. If you want to even up your skin tone then i swear by Benefit 'Get Even' face powder - its amazing! Ive also recently been using Revlon photoready foundation and have found the coverage to be really good and very easy to get a skin colour match. Scarlett x

  5. I think you have the exact same skin as you! Unfortunately I can't be much help, as I still haven't found the perfect foundation. You will have to let me know if you do! The closest I've found is by 17 it's called Shine Control or something similar.

  6. I struggle to find a good foundation too, my skin is pretty normal I'd say but I am really pale. The only pale foundation I've found is an Avon one (I wouldn't recommend the actual foundation though)even the lightest shade in most brands is way too dark. I do have a friend who has regular breakouts, I can't tell you what she uses but she went for a consultation in Debenhams and even though she said she doesn't always use the expensive brands they try to sell you, she did learn alot about her skin and what to look for in foundation and skin care. Good luck xxx

  7. I have an oil slick of a face. I was using a Rimmel foundation but recently swapped to Maybelline Matte Mousse whatever its called. It feels almost slimy to put on yet looks matt pretty much all day. I add a touch of powder after foundation, I'm impressed with it and it didn't break the bank.
