Family Flashbacks - 50s & 60s

Welcome to the start of my fun new blog project!  I've had it in my head for a while now to share old family pictures on here, with the added bonus of having gorgeous/interesting fashions to swoon/crack up over, then I saw Elizabeth's fab post and knew it had to be done.  So to kick things off I'm starting way back in time in the 1950s thru 1960s....
This is one of the oldest pictures I have of my gran Betty (she's in the black top) - she was born in 1939 when the war began, so I'm guessing this was taken in the mid 50s...  I vaguely remember her saying she was around 15 here, but that's all I know about it - except that I'm loving her skirt!
Here she is with my mother presumably - Granny married my granpa at 19 then had my mum Elizabeth a year later, then my uncle Bobby the next year, lord knows how she did it!
Wasn't mu uncle just the cutest baby around?!  Granny rocks her pearls and Mother her cute knitted cardigan...
Ok how awesome is this little dress?!  And check out the white shoes and socks, v well dressed!
Mother around age 3 - I'm getting the urge to put a bow in my hair...
All dressed nice for a trip to the seaside, check out my great auntie's beehive and the matching white jackets!
As you'll see in future posts, my mum and gran had a totally awesome collection of dresses - I want them ALL!
Mother on what I'm guessing is her first day at school - her hair suddenly got short and neat, a far cry from the curtain I had upon starting school!
At a party/festival?  Either way the party dress rocks!
One of Mother's school photos, I have a mini version of this in a frame in my room and to this day I'm baffled as to how she got her hair to do this!  Must remember to ask next time I visit...

That's all for now, stay tuned for some 70s era pics and some Christmas fashions - featuring yours truly...

:)

  2. Love these - especially the first one, with all the birds! I hardly have any old family photos - just a few of my dad as a little boy - but I think I'll dig them out and have a look at them today!

  7. Love this post, your granny has such fab taste in clothes both for her and her children! I think your Mam looks like she's had her hair in a bobble and taken it out...?
