Easter Snow Day...

I may as well admit that we're pretty lucky with the snowy weather where I live, in that the only time I've seen bad snow has been two years ago and maybe once 15 years before that.  Sure we have insane winds and super cold post Christmas temperatures, but the snow itself doesn't lie for more than a day usually.  However, venture a few miles inland and you'll find huge drifts everywhere (and I mean a few miles, these pictures were taken less than eight miles from my mum's house).  I didn't even consider there would be snow when my friend John suggested a walk to the wind farms on Saturday but I had my wellies handy for the inevitable mud, and they came in super handy when I decided I was invincible and started stomping around in the perfectly preserved drifts.  That game came to an end when I stomped into a hidden ditch, tweaked my sore leg then realised I didn't have my inhaler when climbing the first hill.  Oops.
We had lots of fun taking ridiculous pictures and generally enjoying the solitude - we didn't see one other person, much better than the country park on a holiday weekend!
 I couldn't resist capturing someone else's stupidity for a change ;)
I've heard dogs are hilarious around snow but Lucy was completely uninterested in it all, how disappointing.

Challenge 12

Challenge 12 - Leave a good book for a stranger to find
This is something I like doing sometimes when I'm on the train.  If I've just finished a good book I take it with me and leave it in the gap between the seat and the window for someone to find.  In my head someone finds it and reads it and loves it too - in reality there's every chance the conductor picks it up and tosses it in a pile somewhere.  Lets hope not!  This time I added one of my knitted hearts as a bookmark for extra good karma points ;)

Has anyone done this?  Or found a book?

A week in outfits...

Last week was pretty work and pyjama focused, I'm surprised there's any outfits to show for it!  I'm continuing the comfort/heat strategy when getting dressed - the weekend was SO COLD, surely we're due a break soon?  Fingers crossed...
Top - Long Tall Sally (here)
Jeans - Long Tall Sally (here)
Converse - TK Maxx
This top and jeans were part of my York shopping spree and I'm totally in love with both - you know when you find an item of clothing that you just know fits super well with your body and wardrobe?  That happened x3 at LTS that day, loving it!
Blouse - M&S Per Una
Jeans - Topshop Tall
Boots - New Look
This blouse was found in the Per Una sale section at M&S, can you believe it?!  I think Per Una has definitely improved recently, some of their new collection is yummy (I have my eye on this tshirt, which I absolutely don't need but am pretending I do when if summer comes...).
Top - George via charity shop
Dress - F&F via charity shop
Converse - TK Maxx
The bargain outfit of the week - the top and dress were both from a charity shop's 10p table last year, and are both about three sizes too big, ie comfy and good for lazing about in!  And obviously I had a hoodie on house is still freezing...

This Week...

eating - pasta and salad and herby feta cheese cubes found in a jar in Lidl.

reading - books and Empire and Stylist (brought to me weekly by my Glasgow working friend ;)).

watching - good movies and terrible movies and The Office and Sabrina the Teenage Witch (ah the nostalgia!).
pausing - my tv at the best times...always when Ed Helms is on weirdly.

day dreaming - of warm days and running again and maybe acting like a grown up at some point this year.

limping - around everywhere on my inexplicably sore leg.
lunching - on chicken salsa baguettes and tortilla chips.  I'm all about the protein this week.

testing - my new pompom maker, it's so quick!

night dreaming - of just about every character on The Office.  Each night.  I'm having pre withdrawal symptoms already.
buying - sweet stuff in Farmfoods - 5 for £1 on TicTacs and Galaxy, sigh.

cleaning - everything at work in preparation for a management visit tomorrow.  My hands took a lot of scrubbing on Friday...

avoiding - eBaying my next wee pile of stuff, although I did sell a few things last week, I just need to keep the momentum up.
observing - Mother's method of searching for hotels online to see how they compare to the brochure...

waiting - for November to roll around.  Mother and I booked our flights at the weekend for America - San Francisco, Los Angeles & New York, here we come!

planning - how I'm possibly gonna survive working five days this week.  Less faffing will need to be done anyway...

Day and Night...

jumper - charity shop
leggings - Topshop Tall
slippers - BHS
dress - charity shop
heels - M&S
necklace - New Look
Yesterday my friend David got married.  Since yesterday was Sunday, my outfit started off being as scruffy as ever before I decided I'd better make a bit of an effort to get dressed up...  I found this dress with a matching jacket in a charity shop years ago for about £2 and I love getting a chance to wear it - plus it was the only suitable thing in my wardrobe somehow, I'm definitely lacking in the fancy clothes department :/
As you can see, we started off well behaved then four drinks and one scarf later, it got rather fun ;)
We managed to get a picture of most of the Original Cinema Crew from the good ol' days - it was so good to see people I've not caught up with in ages, and just as fun to hang out with the ones I see every day.  The groom was obviously allowed the best place in the front, while I'm in the back as usual (gotta stop being the tall one!).  The band was pretty fab and the cake was excellent so lots of dancing, drinking, eating and yapping was done.  Way better than my usual Sunday nights anyway!

Faff Favourites...

On Friday night we went out for dinner and Jamie did this cool trick of making 'hand glasses'.  I looked...less cool in my attempt.  Wrists aren't meant to bend that way!  My logic of getting my glasses out the way helped a bit though...  Yesterday I worked in the afternoon, and in the quiet periods my friend and I made a poster encouraging people to donate stuff for a table top sale we're doing next month - we felt it necessary to include a picture of crying Dawson to illustrate our sadness if no-one helped us...
Here's hoping it's a success!

I've been collecting some links this week so here's a lovely list for you.

Challenge 10 & 11

Two more challenges ticked off the list this week!

Challenge 10 - Say thank you.
Whenever I stay with someone, I like to send a Thank You card afterwards, just cause I have manners and all.  Which leads me to my next point...

Challenge 11 - Send postcards just because.
I decided to say thank you in the form of a postcard, since I found a fun one with road signs (Mhairi is a very keen driver - we're basically complete opposites).  Then I got Sarah one too, in order to spread the word on how to make Yorkshire tea.  Always good to know.

(This week Sarah gave up her biggest vice - eek!)

Polka dots and jumpers...

Shirt - M&S
Skirt - charity shop
Shoes - Matalan
I seem to have been simultaneously busy and procrastinating like crazy this week, seems like I've got nothing done but I've barely been in the house, not sure what went wrong...  The top outfit was worn to the theatre on Friday - we went to see the local opera society perform Beauty and the Beast, which made me realise how cringey I find live, Disney based shows.  Movies all the way for me!  (Clearly I'm lacking the culture gene.)
Jumper - Long Tall Sally (here)
Dress - charity shop
Shoes - Matalan
I worked on Saturday then went to Mothers on Sunday.  My friend gave me a lift down so we could stop off for a wander on the way - the plan was to explore some caves at a nearby country park but when we go there the tide was in, so we settled for a super long walk instead.  Since then I've been hanging at Mothers with the laptop and the Sky remote...not sure why I'm surprised I've got nothing done!
