A trip to Arran

Last weekend I went to Arran with a couple of girls from work.  K is from Australia and wants to see as much of Scotland as possible.  I've lived across the water from it my whole life and never been.  Shameful.  We went to a chocolate shop and a cheese shop and a museum and a castle.  Of course a castle.  In fact while we were there I got National Trust passes for me and Tam.  Now we can go anywhere!  In the museum we found a trophy for Handknitting, which everyone was dying to have me pose with, including me.  Why don't I have a knitting trophy already?!  There were also many ducks, who followed us when we fed them duck food.  They were clearly pretty smart ducks.  We only got as far as Brodick but I think a return trip is called for soon to do more exploring...

  1. I need to plan more trips to use my National Trust pass at more than just my local places!

    1. See I'm lucky that Tam's across the country from me, we get a far bigger range! You should have a challenge to tick off all the ones in the county ;)

  2. STOP GOING PLACES!!!! You keep reminding me of how little of Scotland I've actually seen ;)

Seriously though, Arran looks like yet another cool place to add to my 'must visit' list. It's funny how the places closest to us are often the ones we overlook. I live barely an hours sail from Orkney, and although I've been there, I've not been since years (and I have no excuse because I have relations over there that I can stay with) and I keep saying I must go back, but I never get around to it.

  3. Oh I love the look of that household wants indicator - that looks a handy vintage goodie right there! As for knitting awards - well there needs to be more of those methinks!

    1. Knitting trophies for all! Ha I'd have to add crisps to the household thing if I owned one...
