When I was doing my daily 'stand in front of the wardrobe for an absolute age convinced none of my clothes match' routine at the weekend, I pulled out this polka dot shirt on a whim. It's one of my best charity shop finds and I used to wear it all the time, but lately it's been pushed to the side a bit. You know those items of clothing that you wear all the time when you first get them but then they slowly get replaced with new favourites? This is one of those things. You don't forget about the old favourites, but they become a bit more part of the wardrobe landscape as opposed to a vital part of the collection. They're waiting quietly in the background to be rediscovered at the right moment. Saturday morning was one of those moments. I had a bit more time than usual to faff about and my hand landed on the shirt. The giant, over the top, far brighter than anything else I own shirt. The great thing here is the potential for layering it up for maximum cosiness. I started with a vest then added the shirt and sweater and I was toasty all day.
Saturday turned out to be the day of Getting Things Done. I cleaned the flat, got shopping, watched a couple of films and finished a couple of knitting projects, one of which I'll be showing off soon. Tam came down at tea time and we went down to my old home town to have dinner with some of my favourite buddies. The couple who were hosting told us they'd just bought a house, and we all congratulated them while I pondered on how everyone is growing up around me. Not that I want to turn into a fully fledged adult just yet. Having a 'proper' job is enough for now - the thought of owning a property fills me with dread, not least because I like looking at my savings account and having something to smile about! Plus...does anyone ever really feel like a responsible adult? I like eating sandwiches for dinner and getting excited about what's new on Netflix and buying wool instead of kitchenware and using my flextime work schedule to go to the cinema in the afternoon. Actually, maybe those are just the perks of growing up... Either way, it's a pretty good deal.
