Yarn Along

knitting reading bobble cowl scarf call the midwife trilogy book paperback
I finished a couple of baby blankets over the holidays then got stuck into this cowl.  It's a simple tube shape with a bobble design, knit on the round using DK merino yarn.  When I made my friend the Irish Eyes beret last Christmas I promised her a matching scarf of some sort with the leftover yarn and now I'm finally getting around to it!  I have no idea why it took me so long to start but I'm getting through it fairly speedily - I'm definitely past the half way point anyway and that pleases me.

I've been dipping in and out of the Call the Midwife trilogy of books for a while.  I read the first one early last year and now I'm finishing up the second.  Written by a midwife who was based in the poorest areas of London in the 1950s, it's interesting and eye-opening at times, and (during the first book especially) I love identifying storylines from the TV show.  I've got a couple of library books to start so it might get set down again, but I like knowing I have a familiar story to go back to.

What's everyone else been making post-Christmas?  Got any creative plans for the new year?

Linking up to Ginny's Yarn Along.
